Please assist my canine has just eaten some metal?
I have a six yr old greyhound that I lately adopted I have never had a dog prior to :S
And I had hung my coat up
following a stroll, within the pocket I had some treats. I left her and when i had arrive back she had pulled the coat down, obtained into the pocket however although attempting to get into it she ate the zip…
I dont know what
to do, the zip wasnt too large only concerning the dimension of a fingernail. Will she bo ok or will I require to take her towards the vet?
Thanks :)

Phone your vet and ask a professional what to do! Don’t be fooling around with something like this.

I dont think it’ll be worth worring about if she seems to be acting normally – any signs of abnormal behaviour i’d get her to a vets straight away, but dogs can be hardy animals, and it might pass straight through her.
Any signs she’s in pain, not eating or is being sick or ANYTHING wrong, get her to a vet :) .

I would just keep an eye out for any unusual behavior. Otherwise, I think she’ll be fine. You’d be surprised how many things can pass through a dog…not that I encourage you to experiment. :)

It shouldn’t be too big a deal. They should poop it out in a day or two.

try calling but i wouldn’t worry too much since your dog is not really young and had probably eaten worse. i would only be concerned if it was sharp and jagged metal.

As long as the zip wasn’t in anyway sharp I would have thought it will be ok. Greyhounds are big dogs which will help. If you think how many kids have eaten pound coins in Christmas puddings etc. this is really no different. Of course keep a close eye on your dog and if there are any signs of discomfort take it to the vet

she should be ok feed her some bread and hopefully she will pass it out the other end but if she starts to show discomfort or choking then you will have to take her to the vet good luck

i would ring your local vet and ask them whether she will need to come in, if you don’t want to do that i would get her checked just in case, think of it this way if you ate a coin what would you do, go to the doctors wouldnt you

your dog will be fine. just make sure that she has plenty of water and encourage her to eat tinned meat. it may upset her stomach and make her poo soft which will help her when passing the zip.

Let me know how you get on

she will be ok and should pass it next couple of stools keep any eye out for it and if not just take her to the vet on monday unless she’s sick before that.
